Story of Wilma Rudolph-

Wilma Rudolph Real Life Motivational Story

Wilma Rudolph was born on 23 June 1940 in Tennessee, USA. The economic situation of Wilma Rudolf's family was very weak. Wilma had polio at the age of 4 and became disabled. Wilma used to walk with the help of braces. The doctors had also said that she would never be able to walk on her feet. But Wilma's mother did not give up and she filled her daughter with positive energy. Wilma wanted to walk like other children and often questioned her mother about running and walking.
 
At the age of 9, Wilma Rudolph stubbornly removed the brace on her feet and started trying to walk. During this time Wilma Rudolph was injured but did not give up. Her courage and hard work paid off and at the age of 13 she started running. Wilma competed in her first race at the age of 13 but unfortunately she lost. Wilma's life changed at the age of 14, when she was playing basketball in high school. His high school track and field coach Ed Temple recognized Wilma's talent and asked her to become a runner.

Wilma Rudolph worked hard and at the age of 14, he won all the running competitions at Tennessee Summer Camp. In 1956, Wilma competed in the 1956 US Olympic Trend and Field Trial, where she qualified for the Melbourne Olympics 200m race. Rudolph Wins Bronze in Relay Race at Melbourne Olympics.

Wilma Rudolph brought revolution in the 1960 Rome Olympics with her performance. Wilma won the gold medal in the 100m, 200m and 100x4 relay at the Olympics. Wilma was the first American woman to win three gold medals in an Olympics. Not only this, Wilma also became the fastest runner of the time. Wilma had the distinction of becoming the fastest runner in the world, winning the 200 meters race in 23.2 seconds.
